Looking, I've found the webcam is the same part for either system as are the connections. My web cam worked fine before my long project began. Dell has been selling notebooks with the Creative Labs integrated Webcam and the Windows 7 operating system for a good couple of months now, and I know they would not have included the old Vista (or even XP) drivers for use with Microsoft's newest operating system.
Hey musicgirl54 I too had the same problem, though mine was on a Dell Inspiron 1545, now running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Had Vista Home Premium x64 prior and the Webcam worked just fine Like Arthur Li mentioned upgrade the BIOS, I believe our Dell's are at version A14 - 1750_A14.EXE is probibly your BIOS upgrade. I could not find a Windows 7 Webcam driver upgrade, so I used a Vista x64 driver - R198114.exe for Creative Labs 1.3MP Camera The Vista x64 Creative Labs Camera driver is found under Input Device Drivers on Dell's driver site btw So once I installed this Vista x64 driver my Webcam worked again under Windows 7 x64 Give that a try Regards.
