Stop complaining guys. Be happy there is xtra characters. The original MK games did not have unlockable characters. 1 and 2 only had secret fights and no unlockable characters. 3 only had cyber smoke and you had to use a cheat code to get him. This game is doing what MK games have always done.
The early versions did not have all characters available. Later versions would have the locked characters available for play. UMK3 is a perfect example of this. When it was first released at the arcade 3 characters were not available for play.
People had to either figure out how to unlock them or updated versions would be released with all the fighters available. Unlockable characters is child's play anyway. Old school MK games they were called secret characters and they were very secret for weeks and sometimes months after the games were released. I remember when UMK3 was released at the arcade near me and 2 months went by before the characters of Ermac, Classic Sub Zero, and one other ninja character were even available for play.
Originally posted by:I know I said there was no secret characters but I checked the achievements after completing the story and there's some interesting achievements to say the least. I think you're referring to the 'Fight Hidden Fighter #' achievements. Those are just to fight versions of Noob Saibot, Reptile, Jade, and Smoke in the arcade mode as homage to how they were secret opponents in MKs 1 and 2. For example, if you double flawless on The Pit when santa claus flies across the moon and then finish with a stage fatality, you fight Reptile in the classic costume and he uses Sub Zero's and Scorpion's abilities, like in MK1.
The only 'secret' unlockable characters are Quanchi and Sub Zero, which start unlocked on PC version. Shao Khan, Goro, and Kintaro are only playable via modding.
